| Review: | The first time I saw the Hansa wombat was in a toy store where the owner told us he'd been a long-time favorite with store visitors. He's extraordinarily cute and we bought him on the spot, wondering how any one could have passed him up. Ever since, we've tried to find other wombats with a similar look to give as gifts. But the ones we've seen at that same store and others don't match. Some are very, very different. I recently ordered six wombats from Hansa, and each one looks different. All are very high quality - nicely stuffed and very cute. However, there are major differences in facial expression, which I feel make some more suitable than others as gifts to younger recipients. Some could be imagined to host a wider range of emotions, some seem more good-natured, some have very charming asymmetries. This makes it risky to order online, where you�re almost always limited to stock images. Of the six we ordered, I felt only two would make really perfect gifts. I have no intention of returning any of the others, because they have limitless potential en masse. If you come across a really great wombat in person at a toy store or zoo's gift shop, buy it immediately! It is one of the most adorable stuffed animals you will ever find. When ordering online, even though all Hansa wombats are going to be pretty cute at the very least, the variance is quite large. That said, shape seems to improve with handling. One important feature is that their limbs are stable and solid. All six we ordered have this quality and stand easily, but a couple we've seen in stores do not. This could perhaps be accomplished across the board by making the model a bit shorter-limbed, but it's a great model and by far the most realistic wombat. Overall, I am very satisfied with my order. Communication from the company was very good and the six came very well-packaged. |
