Understanding Payment Transactions

Pending Order Transactions
Pending orders create a temporary hold on the funds in your account for the amount of the transaction. This hold is usually reflected in your bank accounts Available Balance.

In the case of debit card purchases, the hold will remain until the we process the transaction, which can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. The hold is typically automatically released under one of the following conditions, whichever is first:
  • When the actual transaction amount is debited from your account as a posted transaction
  • Approximately three business days after the authorization depending upon your bank's policy.
In the case of credit card purchases, the hold will remain until the we process the transaction, which can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. The hold is typically automatically released under one of the following conditions, whichever is first:
  • When the actual transaction amount is charged to your account as a posted transaction
  • Approximately thirty business days after the authorization depending upon your bank's policy.
Purchases made with PayPal are considered Instant Payment transactions, and the full amount of your order is debited from your account at the time of purchase. In the event all or part of your order is canceled, an appropriate refund is issued, and the fund are made immediately available to you.

Purchases made with Payments by Amazon are considered Instant Payment transactions, and the full amount of your order is debited from your account at the time of purchase. In the event all or part of your order is canceled, an appropriate refund is issued, and the fund are made immediately available to you.

In some cases (when using a credit card or debit card only), a pending transaction will not match the actual amount of the debit or purchase. This happens when we put through an authorization hold for an amount other than the actual purchase amount -- this can happen when the actual purchase amount is determined after our products or services have been provided (e.g. shipping a complete order vs. an incomplete order, or a partial cancellation of an order). We do not debit your account for more than the purchase, simply holding an amount of money to ensure that the actual funds will be available. The actual amount will post to your account once the transaction is processed.
